Alex Borgs is a strength and conditioning coach and doctoral student (PhD in Sport Physiology and Performance) at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in the USA. He currently works with the university‘s women‘s soccer team and assists with sport science research in ETSU‘s sport science laboratory. His research and practical interest lie within the specificity of training and surround the optimization of training variables and related factors to enhance performance in athletic populations.

Alex has recently defended his doctoral dissertation under Dr. Michael H. Stone. In his exploratory research project, he examined the differing effects of strength-endurance (higher volume, moderate load) and strength-power (low volume, high load) resistance training on lower body musculature. Alex will share his findings and how even small changes to a training protocol might affect sport performance.
