Dr. Guy Hornsby is an accomplished Assistant Professor in Coaching and Performance Science at West Virginia University. With a focus on optimizing the training process for strength power-based athletes, his research interests include athlete monitoring, weightlifting and strength and conditioning, and coach education. As the coaching science coordinator at WVU RNI HPIC, he conducts long-term monitoring studies on competitive collegiate athletes and cross-sectional experiments on strength power athletes.

Dr. Hornsby’s professional background includes serving in strength and conditioning positions at East Tennessee State University and the U.S. Military 160th SOAR (A), as well as holding faculty positions at several universities. He is a certified National Level Coach by USA Weightlifting (USAW) and is also the head coach of West Virginia Weightlifting. Furthermore, he serves as the NSCA state director and USAW LWC president for West Virginia.

In addition to his academic and coaching achievements, Dr. Hornsby is also a volunteer coach (throws) for WVU Track and Field. With his extensive experience and expertise in coaching and performance science, Dr. Hornsby is committed to providing high-quality training and education to his students and athletes.
